English	The magnificence of the structure and the natural warmth of wood are blended. Catholicism is a religion that came from the West, but this cathedral used the pattern covering the walls and the ceiling with glulam to penetrate the East and the West so that the Korean sensibility can coexist. This is the concept of double layers, in which gaps were placed between the walls. This was intended to add a sense of depth to volumes while taking charge of the sound absorption function.
Native	현대의 성당은 종교적인 신앙생활을 하는 공간을 넘어 지역 공동체의 다양한 역할을 수행하는 문화 커뮤니티 공간으로 확장되고 있다. 본 성당은 미사와 기도, 결혼식 그리고 지역 커뮤니티 기능을 포함하여 복합적인 기능을 수행하는 공간이므로 종교적인 엄숙함과 편안함이 공존하기를 원하였다. 이를 위해 글루램을 이용하여 웅장함과 자연소재인 목재의 따뜻함이 어우러지도록 하였다. 카톨릭이 서양에서 들어온 종교이지만 한국적 감성이 공존할 수 있도록 벽과 천장을 덮는 글루램 패턴을 동서양의 감성을 아우르는 요소로 사용하였다. 이는 이중 레이어의 개념으로 벽체와의 사이에 공간을 두고 설치하여 흡음 기능을 담당하면서 공간에 입체감을 더하고자 하였다.
