Gangneung has a thousand years of history and diverse nature, and it is focusing on becoming one of the world's top 100 tourist cities in 2023. As part of this plan, the History & Legend of Gangneung is branding developed on the basis of historical and cultural placeness. The history and legends of eight representative attractions of Gangneung that appear in historical tales were reconstructed and produced as friendly illustrations. Each illustration containing a story is used as a graphic element of branding, allowing tourists to intuitively experience the history and narrative of Gangneung together with their location.

강릉은 다양한 천년의 자연, 역사를 품고 있는곳으로 2023년 세계 100대 관광도시로 도약하기 위하여 국제 관광마케팅에 집중하고 있다. History and Legend of Gangneung은 이러한 계획의 일환으로서, 역사문화적인 장소성을 기반으로 개발된 브랜딩이다. 강릉의 대표적인 역사 설화의 관광지 8곳 (경포대, 정동진, 오죽헌, 주문진, 소금강, 대관령, 초당, 월화거리)의 역사와 설화의 스토리를 재구성하여 친근감있는 일러스트레이션으로 제작하였다. 스토리를 담고 있는 각각의 일러스트레이션은 브랜딩의 그래픽 엘리먼트로 활용되어, 관광객에게 강릉의 역사와 설화를 장소와 함께 직관적으로 경험시키는 동시에 다양한 플랫폼에 일관성있게 적용되어 다양한 관광컨텐츠를 만들어낼수 있다. 또한 스토리를 모션으로 제작하여 관광객에게 재미와 공감을 불러일으키고자 하였다. 이 프로젝트는 강릉의 역사문화의 가치를 발굴 및 컨텐츠를 체계화 시키는 관광자원의 초석으로 거듭나는데 의의를 갖는다.
