A project at the National Institute for Cultural Properties, Nara Institute for Cultural Properties, which leads research on cultural landscapes in Japan. The design of the report identified the problem of being generally inorganic and difficult to read, and we provided design support to solve it. Our designers accompanied the local reporters, and were able to directly experience the atmosphere and actual conditions at each site in Japan. Design aim is creating a more substantial and comprehensive report. The door page illustrated how each area's identity was perceived, disassembled, and analyzed points could be understood at a glance.

日本における文化的景観について、調査、研究を先導する国立文化財機構、奈良文化財研究所におけるデザインプロジェクト。報告書のデザインにおける一般的な課題として、無機質で読みづらく、多くの人に読んで理解してもらうという本来の目的を損なうという課題があると考えました。そのため、その課題を解決するためにデザイン支援を行いました。編集者だけでなく、デザイナーも現地取材に同行し、日本各地の現場の雰囲気や実態を直接体験することで、報告書としてより実体的にトータルでデザインすることをめざしました。それぞれの地域のアイデンティティを、どういったまなざしでとらえ、分解、分析したかを扉ページに図解によって説明し、全体の構造や着眼点、重要な箇所について一目で理解できるような工夫を重ね、デザインしています。
