The traditional anti-rolling solution for freighters is to set up a ballast water tank at the bottom of the hull to maintain the balance of the hull by controlling the water intake and drainage on both sides. However, the inlet and drainage efficiency of the ballast water tank is limited, and it is difficult to ensure safety when sudden violent bumps. Guardian is an auxiliary device for maintaining the balance of the hull in an emergency.

货轮作为主要的轮船种类之一,具有体积大、难操控等特点。在海上航行的远洋货轮在遇到突发颠簸时极易发生危险,由于颠簸导致的货箱移动会使船体难以保持平衡,一旦货箱运动过于剧烈便难以操纵发生翻船。传统的货轮防侧倾解决方案是在船体底部设置压载水舱,通过控制两侧的进水与排水维持船体平衡。但压载水舱的进排水效率有限,当突发剧烈颠簸时甚至也很难保障安全。Guardian便是针对紧急情况下维持船体平衡的辅助装置,当船体处于正常运行的平衡状态时,它被隐藏于船体的下方,突发颠簸船体即将失衡时,便会紧急弹出。巨大的浮板结构可以迅速为船体提供更大的浮力,同时增加了与水面的接触面积便于找回重心,安装在其中的大型水下推进装置可以在船体两侧快速提供升力与下压力,在紧急时刻最大效率地恢复船体平衡,避免船上的人员伤亡与巨大的经济损失。
