English	Concept - Coexistence of old and modern appearance This building with Gwanghwamunhaemul is believed to have been built in 1940. We wanted to see the Gwanghwamunhaemul as a brand suitable for Jeong-dong, where the modern and old tastes coexist, and thought that they were both modern and contemporary in the 1940s. So, before we started to look for the old look of space, we started ironing out the wooden ceiling, the interior and exterior structural material of the metal, as well as the modern design elements.
Native	옛것과 현대적인 모습의 공존하는 것이 디자인 컨셉이다. 광화문 해물이 들어선 이 건물은 1940년도에 지어진 것으로 추정되는 건물이다. 광화문 해물이 현대적인 모습과 옛것의 정취가 공존하는 정동에 어울리는 브랜드로 다가가길 원했던 우리는 1940년대 기존의 모습을 상상하며 조금씩 다듬어 옛 향수를 느끼는 동시에 현대적인 감성을 더하여 두 가지가 공존할 수 있게 하는 것이 광화문 해물이라는 브랜드의 정체성이라고 생각했다. 그래서 우리는 공간의 옛 모습을 찾고자 디자인을 하기 전 철거를 먼저 시작했고, 철거를 통해 드러난 박공 형태의 목구조 천정과 내외부 구조재로 쓰였던 벽을, 옛것을 보여줄 수 있는 디자인 요소로 사용하고, 여기에 현대적인 감성을 느낄 수 있는 금속, 유리, 도장을 주재료로 사용하여 투박하면서도 세련됨이 동시에 묻어나는 공간으로 표현하고자 했다.
