Platform screen doors have been introduced and installed on urban railways nationwide, increasing safety, but in emergencies not possible to get out of the doorway. In such a case, there is an emergency door accessed inside the tunnel, but the height of the landing and the track is quite high, which is dangerous. If passengers jump out in a hurry, there is a risk of serious injury. The Emergency Staircase is set to solve this situation. This is a gadget transforming into a staircase using gravity and acts as an Emergency Tool. By using such a device, it is possible to escape fast, go to the opposite platform, or evacuate to the next stop.

전국의 도시철도에서 승강장(플랫폼) 스크린도어가 도입 설치되면서 안전성이 증가하였으나, 비상시(화재, 지진, 정전 등)에 전철 출입구 밖으로 못 나가는 경우가 있다. 이럴 경우 터널 안으로 나갈 수 있는 비상도어가 있지만, 승강장과 선로의 높이가 상당히 커서 위험성이 있다(특히 노약자). 승객들이 당황하여 뛰어내렸을 경우 큰 부상의 우려가 있다. 이러한 상황을 해결하기 위해서 비상계단(Emergency Staircase)을 디자인했다. 이 비상계단은 중력을 이용하여 계단으로 변신하는 형태이다. 평소 스크린도어의 역할을 하다가 비상시 계단으로 사용할 수 있다. 이런 장치를 이용하면 신속한 탈출이 가능하고 승강장 건너편으로 가거나 다음 역으로 대피할 수 있다.
