PROF. RYAN JONGWOO CHOI

I am a Korean-British multidisciplinary designer and educator, with a strong focus on design and engineering innovation. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Product Design from the University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins, and a Master of Science/Master of Arts degree in Innovation Design Engineering, which is jointly managed by the Dyson School of Design Engineering at Imperial College London and the School of Design at the Royal College of Art.
I possess strong communication and collaboration abilities that allow me to effectively collaborate with various fields in design and engineering, including proficiency in software and hardware engineering. I hold a high regard for the diverse opinions and expertise of my collaborators, as I firmly believe that this approach is vital in creating products that are truly useful and valuable to individuals. I have extensive experience working in design consultancies and in-house design teams across various industries such as consumer electronics, healthcare, and automotive. These experiences have exposed me to a range of cultures and systems, and many of my projects have been consistently recognised by esteemed international awards such as IF, Reddot, IDEA, D&AD, and others, earning a total of 36 awards.
I am currently an Assistant Professor at the Hanyang University, teaching a course on Industrial/Mobility Design. Additionally, I have served as a jury panel member for international design awards(US, Hong Kong, Korea) and have a co-founder/non-exclusive role at the brand design agency apoIDEA.
