Chairperson Miki Orihara
After teaching herself design, she founded Art Form Co., Ltd., the predecessor to ODO. In 2011, she established the Miki Orihara Design Office, which was renamed ODO Co., Ltd. in 2023. She handles the design of a diverse range of commercial spaces, including hotels, restaurants, offices, and retail facilities, and is also involved in business model development, branding, and production. In recent years, to pass on Japanese technology and culture to the next generation, she has focused on practicing “locally sourced, locally consumed design” in collaboration with artisans, while also organizing “Touring School,” an experiential learning program, to help participants understand the culture and techniques cultivated in each region and pass them on to the future. Starting in 2026, she will become the first female Chairperson of the Japan Commercial Environment Design Association (JCD), an organization comprising over 500 Japanese commercial designers.
