Hyunsun Kim, Chair of the Jury, earned her Ph.D. in Arts from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Japan, in 1992. Since then, she has been a leading design figure shaping the direction of public design in Korea by bridging academic scholarship with professional practice. With both theoretical depth and extensive hands-on experience, she has carried out a wide range of projects spanning urban design, public spaces, and design solutions addressing social issues. Viewing design not merely as a matter of form or aesthetic achievement but as a critical language for interpreting society and its times, Kim has consistently upheld a judging philosophy grounded in fairness and professional integrity. Drawing on her academic authority and practical expertise, she serves as Chair of the Jury for the Asia Design Prize, playing a pivotal role in rigorously presenting the quality and value of Asian design on the global stage.
