Sotdae Hanger and Tray

English	This product is a hanger and tray designed with the motif of 'Sotdae', a traditional Korean folk religion. 'Sotdae' is a symbol considered a guardian of the village by placing a bird made of wood or stone on a pillar or stone pillar. With the recent rise in the proportion of single-person households in modern society, loneliness and fear of living alone are growing. Seeing this phenomenon, our team designed to use traditional folk beliefs through modern furniture to eliminate the loneliness and fear of people living alone at home, just as 'Sotdae' acted as the guardian of the village in Korean traditional folk beliefs.
Native	이 제품은 대한민국의 전통 민간 신앙인 ‘솟대’를 모티브로 해서 디자인한 행거와 트레이이다. ‘솟대’는 전통적으로 나무나 돌로 만든 새를 장대나 돌기둥 위에 앉혀 한 마을의 수호신으로 믿어지고 있는 상징물이다. 최근 현대사회에서는 1인 가구의 비율이 증가하였고, 그에 따라 혼자 사는 동안 생기는 외로움과 두려움도 증가하였다. 우리 팀은 이러한 현상을 보고 ‘솟대’가 전통 민간 신앙에서 마을의 수호신 역할을 했던 것처럼 혼자 사는 사람들이 집에 혼자 있는 것에 대한 외로움과 두려움을 없애는데 도움이 되고자 전통 민간 신앙을 현대적인 가구로 재해석하여 디자인 하였다. 행거 제품의 경우 옷을 걸 수 있는 기능과 더불어 새의 몸을 터치하면 새의 머리 부분과 행거의 끝부분에서 빛이 들어와 은은한 조명으로써의 기능을 한다. 또한 트레이 제품에는 여러 악세사리나 소품을 올려 놓을 수 있으며 새의 몸통 또한 트레이의 기능을 할 수 있도록 디자인 되었다. 새의 형태는 기존의 전통적인 ‘솟대’의 모습을 현대적으로 해석하여 유기적인 조형을 통해 보여주고자 하였으며 새의 꼬리부분에서는 직선적인 요소를 추가하여 조형적으로 전체의 모습에서 다양한 요소가 나올 수 있도록 디자인했다.
