Dongchon Sutbul Garden is a BBQ restaurant located near Dongchon Amusement Park in Daegu. Main visitors of the restaurant are families and foreigners. To secure more number of 20s, an image that is familiar to a wide range of visitors is needed. The restaurant wishes it to be a place where visitors get a pleasant memory of a good talk and a nice meal. The core value, ‘Reminiscence and Memory’, is decided. Newtro(new+retro) is selected as the concept of the restaurant after the core value. The graphic motif is a ‘Videotape’ which captures messages and memories. Various visuals are accordingly done and established a strong brand identity.

동촌숯불가든은 대구의 동촌 유원지 부근에 위치한 숯불구이 전문식당이다. 동촌유원지 부근은 작은 놀이동산과 강을 둘러싼 산책로 등이 있어 가족단위의 나들이객이 식당을 많이 찾아 온다. 또한 지역의 외국인 단체 관광 전문 식당으로 지정되어 있어 외국인 손님 또한 많은 편이었다. 이들은 기존 타겟층에서 벗어난 젊은 20대 고객층을 추가로 확보하고자 한다. 다양한 고객층 포괄을 위해 편안하고 익숙한 이미지가 필요할 것이라 판단하였다. 동촌숯불가든은 손님들이 맛있는 식사와 함께 이야기를 나누며 즐거운 추억을 남겼으면 하는 바램을 가지고 있었다. 이것을 브랜드 메세지로 정의하고 브랜드 핵심가치를 ‘추억과 기억’ 이라는 단어로 정립하였다. 부모님들의 옛추억, 젊은층들에겐 새로움, 외국인들에겐 익숙하면서 새로운 이미지로 new-tro(retro+new) 스타일로 표현하여 컨셉을 정하였다. 메세지로 전달할 수 있으면서 추억을 담을 수 있는 ‘비디오테이프’로 그래픽 모티브로 잡아 고객들이 이 곳에서 즐거운 시간을 보내고 각자의 마음 속에 생생한 기억으로 담아가길 바라는 마음을 담았다. 비디오는 과거의 추억을 떠올리게 만드는 매개물이자, 독특하고 새로운 시각적 장치의 역할을 한다. 이를 모티브로 다양한 시각정보물을 일관성 있게 구성하여 브랜드 정체성을 확립시켰다.
