Have you ever thought about how much food is wasted every day? Food waste is a global issue, but many overlook its seriousness. It occurs at all stages of the supply chain, making it a complex problem involving multiple stakeholders with unresolved structural challenges. [planet-code: EArTh] is a project inspired by the Korean folktale, "If you leave food, you must eat the leftovers in hell." It highlights the structural issues of food waste and aims to raise awareness and inspire action. On the fictional planet "EArTh," visitors engage with visualized data, making the issue easier and more enjoyable to understand.

매일 얼마나 많은 음식이 버려지는가에 대해 생각해 본 적이 있나요? 현재 식량 문제는 세계적으로 위기를 직면하고 있지만 많은 사람들이 일상에서 식량 낭비의 심각성을 쉽게 인지하지 못합니다. Food loss and waste(식량 손실 및 낭비)는 생산, 처리, 판매 등 식품 공급망의 모든 단계에서 발생하는 식품 폐기물을 포함하는 개념입니다. 이는 식량 문제가 개인의 문제만이 아닌 생산부터 소비까지 전 단계에서의 다양한 이해관계가 맞물려있는 복합적인 문제임을 보여주지만, 여전히 식품 손실 및 낭비에 대한 구조적 문제는 해결되지 않고 있습니다. [planet-code: EArTh]는 ‘음식을 남기면 지옥에서 남긴 음식을 섞어 먹어야 한다’는 한국의 설화를 바탕으로 식량 폐기의 구조적 문제를 조명하고, 그에 대한 심각성을 일깨워 식량 문제 해소를 위한 실천을 유도하는 프로젝트입니다. 폐기된 식량이 모인 가상의 행성인 ‘EArTh’에서 관람자는 직접 체험하고 몰입할 수 있는 형태로 시각화된 데이터를 통해 정보를 보다 쉽고 재미있게 경험할 수 있습니다.
