'VS: Science, Religion, and Us' explores the historical relationship between science and religion as a lens to examine the severity and social risks of conflict in contemporary society. Using the imagery of a bullfight the work visualizes their interaction: science appears as the bull, symbolizing its influence on social perceptions and established orders, while religion is represented as the matador, whose cape reflects responses to change. Beyond moments of conflict, the project considers instances of coexistence shaped through mutual understanding and adjustment, inviting reflection on conflict as a process of relationship and negotiation.

'VS: Science, Religion, and Us'는 대표적인 갈등 사례인 과학과 종교의 역사적 관계를 통해, 우리 사회에 축적된 갈등의 심각성과 그 사회적 위험성을 조명합니다. 현대 사회는 다양한 이해관계와 가치관이 교차하며 여러 형태의 갈등이 나타나고 있습니다. 특히 한국 사회는 갈등이 일상화된 환경에 놓여 있으며, 이 작업은 이러한 상황을 과학과 종교의 관계라는 역사적 맥락을 통해 다시 살펴보고자 합니다. 프로젝트의 핵심인 과학과 종교의 상호작용은 투우의 이미지를 통해 시각화됩니다. 과학은 투우장의 소로 표현되며, 소의 크기와 동작 변화는 사회적 인식과 질서에 변화를 가져온 과학의 힘을 상징합니다. 종교는 투우사로 등장하며, 투우사가 사용하는 천의 크기와 흐름은 변화에 대응하는 종교의 다양한 태도와 반응을 나타냅니다. 본 작업은 갈등의 단면뿐만 아니라, 상호 이해와 조정을 통해 공존해 온 역사도 함께 다룹니다. 이를 통해 사회 속의 갈등을 단순한 대립이 아닌 '관계와 조율의 과정'으로 바라보며, 우리 시대에 필요한 공존의 가능성을 사유할 수 있는 계기를 마련하고자 합니다.
