“Clothing for the Earth” is a motion graphic project inspired by lichens, exploring coexistence between nature and humanity. Through the life of lichens, organisms formed by the symbiosis of fungi and algae, the work reflects on forgotten values of harmony and resilience. Though small and often unseen, lichens restore barren lands and sustain ecosystems. Yet reckless human activity has pushed them to the brink of extinction. Retracing the process of restoring “Clothing for the Earth,” the project reveals human values in lichens, such as compassion, understanding, and tenderness, and invites reflection on living in balance with nature.

"땅이 입는 옷"은 지의류를 주제로 한 모션 그래픽 프로젝트로, 자연과 인간의 공존을 위해 필요한 태도를 지의류에 비유하여 탐구한다. 지의류라는 독특한 생명체가 가진 특징을 통해 우리가 잊고 살아온 공생의 가치를 되새기려는 실험적 시도를 담고 있다. 지의류는 이끼 식물로, 균류와 조류가 공생하는 생명체이다. 서로 다른 두 종이 함께 살아가며, 이를 통해 긴 생명력을 유지한다. 비록 생태계에서는 눈에 잘 띄지 않지만, 척박한 환경을 건강하게 변화시키고, 지구상에 식물이 살 수 있는 토대를 마련해주는 중요한 역할을 한다. 그러나 무분별하게 자연의 옷을 벗겨 사용한 오늘날 생태계는 쇠퇴하였고, 그로 인해 지의류는 멸종 위기에 처했다. 이 프로젝트는 "땅이 입는 옷"을 되찾기 위한 과정을 통해, 지의류가 보여주는 배려, 이해, 다정함과 같은 인간적 가치를 확인할 수 있도록 한다. 또한, 우리가 외면해 온 자연과의 관계를 다시 되돌아보고, 공존의 중요성에 대해 성찰할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다.
