We started this project imagining that it would be possible to live comfortably by creating a space that is closed but also open. On the west side of the house is the largest courtyard measuring eight meters in width and three meters in depth where the living room, dining room, and kitchen face. The high-rise apartment building adjacent to the house is completely out of view from inside the house by the courtyard. When one enters further into the house where the silhouette of the adjacent apartment building is completely gone and the noise from the street is remarkably cut off, one will see a soft light and feel a quiet time passing by.

私たちは、閉じていながらも開放的な空間をつくることで、快適な生活ができるのではないかと考え、このプロジェクトをスタートさせた。西面に幅８ｍ縦3ｍの最大の中庭を設けリビングやダイングキッチンがそれに面する。そこに隣接する高層のマンションは、その中庭により室内からの視線には全く入らない。　そのうえ、大開口はカーテンも引かない状態である。大きな階段を中庭とリビングの間に設けたことで、一階の玄関から中庭を見ながらゆったりと二階のリビングへとアプローチしていく。隣接するマンションのシルエットは完全に消され、道路の喧噪が嘘の様にカットされた、この住宅内部に入り込むと柔らかな光と静かな時間が流れている。先ほどまでの都市の喧噪や風景は呆気なく姿を消してゆくのだ。
