Cheonan is a rapidly evolving city with numerous construction sites. This project transforms stark construction barriers into vibrant canvases reflecting the city’s identity. Citizens, artists, and designers collaborated to create intuitive patterns of regional icons like walnuts, dragons, and willows. These icons form a mosaic-style modular design, where puzzle-like pieces combine to highlight Cheonan’s diversity and harmony. The transformed walls enrich public spaces with creativity, connecting people to the city through dynamic and meaningful visuals.

천안시는 빠르게 변화하는 도시로, 곳곳에 공사장이 자리하고 있습니다. 이번 프로젝트는 삭막했던 공사장 가림벽을 도시 정체성을 담은 캔버스로 재창조하는 것을 목표로 시작되었습니다. 이를 위해 시민, 지역 예술가, 디자이너가 협력하여 천안을 상징하는 호두, 용, 버드나무 등의 아이콘을 선정하고, 이를 직관적인 패턴으로 단순화해 디자인했습니다. 이 아이콘들은 모자이크 형식의 모듈형 디자인으로 조합되어, 퍼즐처럼 조각들이 모여 하나의 작품을 완성합니다. 이 과정은 천안의 다양성과 조화를 시각적으로 표현하며, 단순히 공사장 가림벽을 넘어 도시의 문화와 정체성을 담아냅니다. 프로젝트의 결과물은 공공 공간에 미적 가치를 더하고, 시민들에게 창의적이고 활기찬 도시 이미지를 제공합니다. 삭막했던 벽이 사람과 도시를 연결하는 매개체로 변하며, 천안의 이야기를 담은 생동감 있는 공간으로 거듭났습니다.
