One of the features of this temple's design is its deep eaves. these eaves are commonly found in traditional Japanese architecture. It has not only an importance of functional meaning such as adjusting solar radiation according to the season or protecting the exterior walls in rain but also a psychological meaning such as the comfort of being under the eaves. The eaves, which seamlessly connect indoor and outdoor spaces, provide a comfortable area that serves as a social gathering place.

岡山県倉敷市にある寺院の敷地内に建つこの建物は周囲の落ち着いた環境と調和するよう計画された建築です。本作品の大きな特徴の一つが深く伸びやかな軒の存在です。日本の伝統建築において軒は極めて重要な要素であり季節ごとの日射をやわらかく調整し雨の多い気候から外壁を守るといった機能的な役割を担っています。それだけでなく軒下に生まれる陰影や包まれ感はそこに身を置く人に安心感と心地よさを与える心理的な効果も生み出します。本建物では、訪れる人が自然と気持ちを落ち着かせリラックスして過ごせるよう広くゆとりのある軒下空間が丁寧に設計されています。さらに水平要素を強調した構成と高さの異なる二つの屋根によって建物に豊かな高さとボリューム感が与えられこの量感が周囲の景観とやさしく呼応し建築が環境の中に溶け込むような佇まいを生み出しています。
