Reflections on Abandoned Houses

English	As the world calls for decarbonization, an important keyword is 'recycling.' We approached this goal with the aim of reducing waste by recycling existing buildings. This project is located in Jecheon, Chungbuk, and the design was made modern through the reuse of the existing space and partial expansion. Additionally, we created a bed headboard using mother-of-pearl inlay and transformed reclaimed wood into lighting fixtures, enhancing the value of discarded materials. Based on this experience, we will continue to research and work towards addressing and improving environmental issues.
Native	전세계가 탈탄소를 외치고 있는 지금, 중요한 과제로 떠오른 키워드는 '재활용'입니다. 기존 건축물의 일부를 재활용 함으로써, 폐기물을 줄 일 수 있다는 목표를 가지고 접근하였습니다. 우리는 오래 된 한국전통의 한옥에 집중 했고, 한옥이 가지고 있는 구조를 재해석 하여 현대적인 생활 방식에 어울리도록 설계 하였습니다. 이 곳은 충북 제천에 위치 한 오래 된 한옥으로, 기존의 한옥의 일부분을 재활용 하면서, 증축을 통해 현대적인 주거공간으로 재탄생 시켰습니다. 한옥의 구조체인 나무기둥은 때로는 극복해야 할 방해요소가 되기도 하지만, 강력한 구조적 요소이자 미적 가치를 지닌 대상으로 작용합니다. 또한 버려졌을 자개장의 문짝을 재활용하여 침대 헤드를 제작하고, 철거 때 나온 고재를 활용하여 조명을 만들어 폐자재의 가치를 높였습니다. 노후된 집이지만, 기능성 자재를 사용함으로써 신축 못지 않은 집으로 재탄생하고, 소박한 마당의 공간은 조경계획을 통하여 매력을 높인 공간으로 탈바꿈하였습니다. 아무도 돌보지 않던 노후된 공간을 누구나 갖고 싶어 하는 공간으로 만드는 것이 바로 디자인의 힘 입니다. 우리는 이 힘을 활용하여 노후 된 집들을 되살리고, 그로 인해 얻을 수 있는 환경적 잇점을 꾸준히 연구해 나갈 것 입니다.
