NATURE UNBOUND, the sunken garden within the senior residential complex, is a healing landscape that reflects the rhythm and sensibility of senior living. Surrounded by fifteen-story buildings, the space faced limited light and nature, along with an abandoned central structure known as the Healing Folly. Reimagined through the narrative “NATURE UNBOUND; breaking free from nature’s constraints,” rock-like forms pierce and overflow the structure, symbolizing primordial vitality. The Healing Folly now operates as a vertical ecosystem, offering immersive greenery, emotional restoration, and a serene microclimate where stone and nature coexist.

시니어 레지던스 내 선큰공간의 정원 NATURE UNBOUND는 시니어 타운의 삶의 리듬과 감성을 섬세하게 담아낸 치유의 공간이다. 15층 건물에 둘러싸여 빛과 자연이 제한된 선큰공간, 그리고 인공 온실 계획이 무산되며 남겨진 거대한 중앙 구조물 ‘힐링폴리’는 오랫동안 해결되지 않은 과제였다. 우리는 이 구조물에 ‘NATURE UNBOUND; 자연의 틀을 깨고 나오다’라는 서사를 부여했다. 인조암을 통해 암석이 구조를 뚫고 흘러나오듯, 억눌렸던 자연이 공간 전반으로 확장되는 태초의 생명력을 형상화했다. 힐링폴리는 이제 단순한 구조물이 아닌, 지하에서 지상까지 이어지는 수직 생태계로 작동하며 입주민에게 입체적인 녹음과 깊이 있는 경관을 선사한다. 실내 생활이 많은 시니어들에게 이는 도심에서 쉽게 접하기 어려운 자연과의 교감이며, 정서적 안정과 회복을 이끄는 고요한 배경이 된다. 더불어 마운딩을 통한 토심 확보와 저관리형 식재, 미스트 시스템을 통해 쾌적한 미기후를 조성하며, NATURE UNBOUND는 견고한 암석과 부드러운 자연이 공존하는 심리적 안식처로 완성된다.
