The curving stone wall, clad in the natural surface of Oshima stone from Ehime prefecture, follows the contour of the site. Recalling the castle rampart, it is built with the intricate aikata-zumi technique. The wall preserves the memory of the former residence once known as “the house with the great stone wall”, while blending harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. Inspired by azekura-zukuri and the entrance of earthen storehouses, the RC walls and elevator frames reinterpret traditional Japanese architectural motifs in a contemporary form.

敷地形状に呼応するように弧を描く石垣は大島石(愛媛県)の皮肌。 難易度の高い相方積みによって組み上げられ、地域のシンボルであった 旧宅の「大きな石垣の家」という面影を残しながら地域の記憶を継承し風景に溶け込むようにデザインした。
個人邸でありながら迎賓機能を備え、地下1階の車路は弧を描く大島 石の壁と旧宅の石垣を再利用した床で構成され、吹抜けのあるエントランスは鋳造や左官などの伝統技術の手仕事と国産素材で仕上げられた。 照明による空間演出と併せて「お出迎えの空間」を演出している。
来賓や建築文化の交流の場となる1階のパブリックスペースは、視線 をずらすエリアの組み合わせや家具レイアウトと素材を選択することで 用途と領域を形成し、内部と外部に連続性を持たせることで重層的な 奥行きを持つ空間を構成した。和室には高い技術が求められる黒漆喰 や曲面の白漆喰天井などの左官仕上が施されている。
2階のプライベートスペースはエレベーターホールをコアとして家族 の集まる空間を構成。プライベートな空間を守るよう外周に設けられた 壁は、十分な採光も確保された外部との緩衝帯となっている。 迎賓と居住性を内包しつつ、地域産業や伝統の継承に寄与し、文化交流の拠点としての機能を担っている。
