My design is inspired by Wang Xizhi’s Preface to the Orchid Pavilion. I transformed lines expressing five emotions—joy, sentiment, reflection, awe, and freedom—into simple symbols and tried two bindings: accordion-fold and hand-stitched. I also designed a custom illustration of the “floating wine cup” table based on the text’s historical setting. The work originates from Wang Xizhi’s context, which captures both a joyful gathering and his thoughts. I am especially drawn to the line “Gazing upward at the vast cosmos, looking down at the richness of life,” so I modeled every character in 3D and made an accordion-fold book.
