We use many materials to build exhibition spaces and repeatedly create waste after each show. As spatial designers, practicing sustainability often feels like an ongoing challenge. Still, we minimized waste while achieving both creativity and functionality. The banded walls were made without finishing, cutting, or modification, keeping the plywood’s original size and form. After the exhibition, these walls can be dismantled and reused, presenting another path to sustainability. Reducing materials, time, and energy in each process is both an environmental act and a motivation for sustainable design.

우리는 전시공간을 만들기 위해 많은 자재를 사용하고 전시회가 끝나면 많은 폐기물을 만드는 것을 반복하고 있다. 공간디자이너 이기에 지속가능성을 실천으로 옮기는 것은 숙제처럼 느껴지기도 한다. 그럼에도 우리는 폐기될 것을 최소화하고 창의적이고 기능성에서도 높은 수준의 공간을 만들 수 있었다. 띠 형태의 벽에서 보이듯이 합판에 아무런 마감을 하지 않았고 자르거나 변형하지 않았다. 생산된 그대로의 크기와 형태를 유지하였다. 그렇게 때문에 이 전시가 끝나면 띠 형태의 벽을 분해하여 다른용도로 사용할 수 있고, 이것은 지속가능성으로 가는 또하나의 방법이 된다. 최소한의 재료와 최소한의 시간, 최소한의 에너지 사용으로 하나의 공정이라도 줄이는 것이 환경을 위한 행위이고 나아가 지속가능한 디자인을 위한 동기부여라고 생각한다.
