Commissioned for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, the Ikenobo Kado Association—originator of Japanese ikebana—presented an unprecedented exhibition reinterpreting 1,400 years of floral tradition for a global audience. Set in a glass-walled gallery by the sea, the design layers shifting sunlight, dynamic illumination, and the natural transformation of flowers to create a time-based artwork where no moment repeats. A wall-less, self-supporting layout invites free movement and engagement, challenging ikebana’s traditional frontality. Recycled 3D-printed fixtures replaced disposable structures, ensuring sustainability and reuse.

1400年の歴史を誇る池坊華道会協会は、2025年大阪・関西万博で日本伝統文化展示の先陣を切るにあたり、歴史的様式を尊重しつつ万博の国際性に応える前例のないいけばな展を要望しました。ガラス張りで海に面した特殊なギャラリー環境を活かし、刻々と変わる自然光や動的照明、生花そのものの変化をレイヤー状に重ね、二度と同じ瞬間が訪れない“時間芸術”としての体験を設計。壁を排した自立式レイアウトと最小限の什器により鑑賞者を能動的に空間へ誘い込み、正面性が強い古典いけばなの新しい鑑賞方法を提示しました。什器は再生プラスチックによる3Dプリントで製作し、従来の使い捨て仮設材から脱却して巡回展への再利用を前提としたサステナブルな運用を実現しています。
